Back in Seattle
Two Koreas has some good coverage of the latest round of Korea-US FTA talks now being held in that most auspicious of venues: Seattle. The mention of US protesters and Korean farmers dancing together spurred me to look for some pictures, but this is best I could come up with so far:
Anyway, I happened across a copy of one of our local ‘Hanin’ [Korean expat] newspapers yesterday called, somewhat predictably, 한인신문. Usually I read these for the garish adverts for Korean restaurants and ignore the stories, but opening up to page three, I found they have an interview with everyone’s favourite Korean Keynesian, Ha Joon Chang of Cambridge University on the subject of the FTA. I’ll try to translate some or all of his comments in the next few days and post them below.
Talking of Keynes and Ha Joon Chang, Choi Il-bung has an article on Keynesianism and its Korean followers in the latest Counterfire, which I’m sure is worth reading, although I haven’t had time to get past the first paragraph yet:
Oh yes, I almost forgot, lots more in-depth coverage from ‘the other side’, so to speak, over at the Marmot’s Hole.

I look forward to the translation.
There’s an article/review at The Nation that may interest you.
